Features in depth

Everything your gigabytes deserve.

From the volume picker to the collector: every feature has one job — take space back without regrets.

01

A radial map, not a riddle

Every folder becomes a wedge. The bigger the hog, the bigger the slice. Click to dive in, center to climb back out.

02

An engine that thinks ahead

Measures true allocated size, de-duplicates hard links, and surfaces the largest files while the scan is still running — with live progress.

03

A collector with a safety net

Drag suspects into the Ready-to-Remove tray, review them at leisure, then move everything to the Trash in one step.

04

Private by design

Sandbox-safe, fully offline, zero telemetry. Folders it can't read are marked unknown — never silently hidden.

Under the hood

  • Measures allocated on-disk size, de-duplicates hard links
  • Live async scan with progress, prioritized large-file discovery
  • Interactive radial (sunburst) map — click to drill in, center to go up
  • Removal collector queues items, then moves them to Trash in one step
  • Quick Look inspector, Reveal in Finder, size-sorted file list
  • Sandbox-safe: security-scoped grants; denied folders shown as unknown, never silently skipped
  • Private by design — collects no data
STEP 01

Scan

Pick a volume or folder — NullDisk measures everything in seconds and streams the largest finds live.

STEP 02

Dive

Click through the rings to the culprit: ancient DMGs, forgotten Xcode archives, a doubled Downloads folder.

STEP 03

Reclaim

Queue it in the collector, double-check, Trash it. Done — with previews and Finder integration.

Frequently asked questions

Is NullDisk truly native to the Mac?

Yes — Swift and SwiftUI, for macOS 14 and up, on Apple Silicon and Intel. No Electron, no Java, no cross-platform compromise.

What happens to folders it can't access?

They're marked unknown with a lock — never shown as empty. The scan continues around them, so nothing is silently undercounted.

Does NullDisk delete immediately?

No. You collect first, then move everything to the Trash together — with confirmation. Only what you approve ever gets deleted.

Does NullDisk phone home?

No. It works fully offline and collects zero data — as stated in its App Store privacy declaration.
